New 64-bit Xeon MP Coming Soon

The Register is reporting that Intel's new 64-bit Xeon MP processor (code-named "Potomac") will ship on 29 March! The 8MB of L3 cache (up from the 4MB offered by the current top-of-the-range model), 667MHz bus speed, and clock speed of 3.33GHz will make this a very nice chip, it will probably cost thousands of dollars though. The specs of the motherboard this thing will ship with are equally impressive: the motherboard, the E8500, will support 400MHz DDR 2 SDRAM with ECC (ECC is error-correcting memory, it's cool). It will also provide a PCI Express bus.
