Very Cool Multi-Function Device

George Parker writes "Over the years I've bought all kinds of so-called, multi-function devices. But, usually Ive ended up being disappointed. Not just in terms of the poor quality of the results, but also because they are often never quite as easy to use as they were touted to be. I was therefore, pleasantly surprised when a friend gave me something called the Octave "Multipod" a couple of weeks ago and it lived up to all the raves shed been bombarding me with for days. Quite simply, it does five things. It's a video recorder, a digital camera, a Web cam, a voice recorder and a 128MB data storage device...

But the most amazing thing of all is how tiny it is, it's actually smaller than a lipstick and weighs less than 3/4 of an ounce. OK, I thought, but the output quality will be crap! Surprisingly, it's not bad at all. I've never seen anything quite like it, and for $149 it seems reasonable for what it can do. You can get all the details at www.octave.com/mpod which is where I've been sending everyone who wants to know "what is that thing?" whenever I use it to take a picture, sneak a video, or leave myself a voice memo. I think you might find it interesting. It's quite a bit different than a lot of the gear out there right now. There's also a very funny video on the Octave site showing how a guy stuck the multipod on his model aero and took it for a ride!
Cheers/George"
