Bye, Bye Comment Spam!

About a week ago I got hit with about 30 spam comments (remember seeing those?), a spam comment is basically when person goes around posting comments on every blog he can find with links to websites, then search engines such as Google think I am personally link to that site which makes Google count that as a vote for that site. Well Google has been working on a way to stop people from spamming blog comment sections: a new rel=nofollow attribute added to any anchor tags will prevent Google, MSN, and Yahoo! (yes, they are working together!) from indexing any such links, so the motive for content spamming disappears. Especially hopeful is the fact that a bunch of makers of blogging software, including Six Apart and Blogger, have announced they are supporting the new attribute.
